A "little" Inspiration

Well it has officially been over a week since my last post. I was on what you might call a blog hiatus. I can't really put my finger on it, wether it be the shorter days, the cooler weather, or just a simple refresh. I think that all of us can relate to that time of year, when (especially for creatives) we just don't feel that motivation like we do in the beautiful sunny days of summer. I've spent the last week really trying to reset my brain and focus in on my vision.

To paraphrase from another photographer, who has travelled this road and experienced so much more than I have - who only through perseverance, determination and passion has come out on top

Where do I want to be as a photographer... What are my goals... Who do I want to be known as, in the ever expanding world of photographers (which with the accesibitly of the medium is growing at an exponential rate)... And finally, what exactly is my creative vision that I want to convey through my images.

Not exactly his words but you get the idea. If you have ten minutes to spare (after reading this post), check out this video from Zack Arias. It is truly moving and I think many of us can relate. "Transform" - Zack Arias

These are questions that I know for sure are not going to be answered over the course of a week, or even a year for that matter. The answers to these questions will probably change numerous times and very likely will never be truly answered.

I think what I can offer from my week of contemplation is this... As humans our needs and wants are ever changing. No matter what we do in life, we should do it, because it makes us happy. We need to adapt to these changes and embrace them, as these changes are what defines US.

Sometimes we need to take a step back from what we are doing, and ask ourselves what it is that we expect to accomplish from our journey in life and really try with all of our power to ensure that we do it for the love.

I`ve learned through this thought process that photography is not only a passion of mine but that nothing else makes me more happy then to create beautiful images. Images that tell stories, invoke emotion (in myself and others) and most of all excersice my creative mind.

I am sure that I will never know, beyond doubt, the answers to all of the question listed above... but because I have found something to be passionate about and something that makes me happy (most days) I do not need to ever fully understand the answers.

Whether it be photography, painting, fishing, running etc, etc... Find something you enjoy, embrace it and learn from it. Challenge yourself to improve and when you can do this... you will then learn to apply this attitude to every aspect of your life and define YOU as a human being.

Here are the first few images I took after not picking up my camera for over a week. Thank God for a "little" inspiration in the household :) Enjoy!
