[News] Koreans Idols Born In The Year of The Dragon

Taecyeon and Nichkhun of 2PM

Both Taecyeon and Nichkhun are known as the "visual" and rappers of the group. Taecyeon is also known for his acting skills such as Dream High and Cinderella's Sister. Recently, he acted in a Japanese drama, 99 Days with a star with A-list Hallyu star Kim Tae Hee. Recently, Taecyeon commented that this year will be the year of the black dragon, which he was referring to himself because there isn't any celebrity born in the year 1988 who has darker skin than him. He also promised to work harder in the year 2012. Nichkhun is currently busy making his acting debut in Thailand.

G-dragon and Taeyang of Big Bang

Both Taeyang and G-dragon are from the talented Hip-Hop group – BIGBANG. They were both signed with YG Entertainment at the age of 12 under the name GD & YB. Besides singing and rapping, G-dragon is also a songwriter and producer. While Taeyang is well-known for his solo hits – Wedding Dress and I Need a Girl. It wasn't a very good 2011 for them. Let's hope for a successful dragon year for BIGBANG!

KARA had a successful 2011 with promotions both in Korea and Japan. KARA's second Japanese full length album, "Super Girl" drew 360,000 pre-order sales the day before its release. Their Japanese single, "Jet Coaster Love" was an Oricon #1 hit single. All the proceeds for this single was donated to the 2011 Great Tohoku Earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan. Park Gyuri is known for her Japanese language ability. All these contributes to their success in Japan. It'll definitely be another successful year for KARA in both Korea and Japan!

Eunjung of T-ara and Kim Soohyun 

Kim Soo Hyun and Eunjung met while acting with popular drama, "Dream High" last year. Both of them became close as they share the common traits of energetic and confidence. They have collaborated in SPRIS and was initially the rumoured couple for We Got Married. It has been a busy 2011 and 2012 for T-ara with their singles Roly Poly, Cry Cry and Lovey Dovey. The MV for Lovey Dovey was released in 5 different versions and one of the version was made like a movie. They are also busy with their promotions in Japan as they released Japanese versions of "Bo Beep Bo Beep", "Yayaya" and "Roly Poly". Kim Soo Hyun recently starred in the drama, "The Moon that Embraces the Sun" as a fictional King of Joseon.

Kyuhyun of Super Junior

Kyuhyun of Super Junior was selected by netizens as the No.1 celebrity netizens are most looking forward to in 2012 according to a poll by Community portal site DC Inside, beating the rest of the dragon idols born in the year 1988. Kyuhyun is known for his ballads. Let's hope to see more of the makne of Super Junior in 2012!

In East Asian culture, Dragon is a divine animal and is said to be a good year. Let's hope for a successful 2012 for the Korean idols and us!

[News] 2PM’s Taecyeon writes song for Son Ho Young and Kim Tae Woo?


There's a lot of interest growing over who 2PM‘s Taecyeon will give his original song to.

On the 18th, Taecyeon tweeted to Park Jin Young, "Let the staff noonas listen to Taecyeon's third work(unfinished) and this time they said it sounds like G.O.D. I guess I'm a slave of recycling. Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I did start my music life with JYP."

Park Jin Young replied, "The first one was pretty good.. I want to listen to the second and third one already. Especially the third one. If it's good I'll let Tae Woo or Ho Young listen to it" which made the fans curious over who will receive Taecyeon's song.

After seeing the tweets, the netizens commented, "Taecyeon, now writing songs… what can't you do","I want to listen to it too", and "I think it will be better if 2PM sang it instead of Son Ho Young or Kim Tae Woo".

[News] KARA, Girls’ Generation, 2PM, 2NE1, SHINee, and CNBLUE receive nominations for MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2012


Some of the top Kpop stars have received nominations at the MTV VMAJ 2012 (Video Music Awards Japan 2012).

On March 19th, MTV Japan revealed the nominees for the MTV VMAJ 2012 (Video Music Awards Japan 2012). KARA, Girls' Generation, 2PM, 2NE1, SHINee, and CNBLUE all received nominations in various categories.

In the "Best Group Video" category, 2PM received a nomination for "I'm Your Man".

In the "Best New Artist Video" category, CNBLUE received a nomination for "In My Head" along with 2NE1 with "I AM THE BEST".

In the "Best Video of the Year" category, Girls' Generation received a nomination for "MR. TAXI".

In the "Best Choreography" category, SHINee received a nomination for "LUCIFER".

In the "Best Album of the Year" category, KARA received a nomination for ‘Super Girl‘ along with Girls' Generation with ‘GIRLS' GENERATION‘.

This year's award show will be held in Chiba at Makuhari Messe Hall on June 23rd.
