[News] 2PM’s Wooyoung and 2AM’s Jo Kwon to release solo albums this summer!

The 'Ace'-dols of the pop industry's 'brother group' are both releasing solo albums in June for a friendly battle; causing much hot attention in the pop industry.

They are 2PM's Wooyoung and 2AM's Jo Kwon. According to many music industry representatives, the two members releasing a solo album next month side by side will result in a friendly war of one's pride.

Wooyoung's solo debut has been a persistent rumor amongst fans since the start of this year. This was especially so, when Wooyoung tweeted a comment of "We will play a little later" as well as leaving a picture of being in the recording studio with another 2PM member, Junsu, causing an even hotter response between the fans. 2PM's main vocal, Junsu, released a solo song entitled 'Alive' for the first time last October, and has been composing songs as Jun.K, leading many to wonder if Wooyoung and Junsu were writing a solo album or forming a unit group.

Wooyoung is the second solo unit from 2PM to be announced after Junsu, and has been chosen as one who has the capability to be a solo artist. Pop industry representatives have said that in 2PM, Wooyoung is the member with the strongest fandom. The pillar of JYP Entertainment, Park Jinyoung always states, "He has talents and the innate ability of a singer, and his performance ability, etc is also the most improved in all of the members," raising the prospects of his solo album succeeding.

Jo Kwon released a solo song at the beginning of July in 2010. At that time, with his appearance on MBC's 'We Got Married Season 2' with Brown Eyed Girls member Gain as a foothold, he released the solo song 'The Day of Confession', which placed #1 on various music charts, confirming his popularity as a solo singer. It has been 23 months since the release of Jo Kwon's solo song. Previously, Jo Kwon also received popularity during his activities with 2AM for the March-released mini album title song 'I Wonder if You Are Like Me'.

Wooyoung and Jo Kwon who are both born in 1988 trained together for a long time at JYP Entertainment, and show a close friendship. Last December, pictures of Jo Kwon and Wooyoung on a vacation in Japan together were released on twitter, catching much attention.

[Twitter] 2PM Taecyeon Tweets: "Surgery Went Well"

Earlier today, 2PM’s Taecyeon reassured his fans that he was recovering well from his recent surgery and that he was discharged from the hospital. On May 22, he tweeted, “Surgery went well, and I am finally leaving the hospital after five days. So many things have happened since [being admitted to the hospital]. My new song, as well as news of Wooyoung’s solo activities, came out.

Netizens commented, “Get well soon Taecyeon,” “No hurries, just make sure you recover,” “We were so worried,” “Hwaiting oppa,” and more.

As reported last week, Taecyeon fractured his humerus while arm wrestling with his fellow 2PM members in Japan. While the surgery went well, it will take at least another month before Taecyeon’s arm is fully recovered. Until then, he will have to wear a cast. However, he expressed his determination about joining his teammates on stage for the upcoming concerts in Japan.

[Album] 2PM Member’s Selection comments on the song

2PM comment to their songs in the 2PM Member's Selection album

Wooyoung on “Again and Again”: It’s a song that we have first recorded at the JYPEnt USA branch in New York. We prepared hard for this song, practising and being taught at the dorm for a week. Everything felt new and fresh being in New York, but I was also very proud and felt great to know that our company had a building in Manhattan. And the most important thing! Our first No. 1 song on National TV^^

Junsu on “10/10”:  At first I was really very glad to receive such a sensible song from Jinyoung-hyung. But my parts were only ad-libs at verse 2 and 3, and this song actually almost caused my personal slump with all the microphones that didn’t work well during the TV performances.

Junho on “I’ll be back”: I think it’s a piece of creation that was ahead of its time considering every single part of it – vocals, choreography, outfit, hair & make-up. Eye make-up with golden and silver foil, boots embedded with studs, the first national shuffle dance – it’s a song that set a trend.

Chansung on “She Might Come Back”: It’s a very placid song that is fit for easy listening and allows you to feel Jongsu hyung’s [the composer] sensibility. If you listen to this song, it sort of calms you down and softens your mood..!! heh heh

Taecyeon on “Heartbeat”: Heartbeat: Ah! I was shocked when I heard Heartbeat for the first time… I was totally against it, thinking it might not work out because of the unique rap style, but as the choreography and full arrangement was done, my opinion changed. I think that today’s 2PM would not be where we are now if it weren’t for Heartbeat.

Khun on “I Can’t”: I was really very excited when we first received this song. I really liked it, since I originally am a Ra.D hyung’s fan, and I thought that the song was EXACTLY my style. It’s a song that calms me down and gives me warmth every single time we perform it on stage.

Taecyeon on “Don’t Stop,Can’t Stop”: DSCS: It was the first composition sent by Jinyoung hyung for the title song after the end of Heartbeat’s zenith, and I felt that the lyrics and the melody really contained all the 2PM feelings at the time. Erupting with all that pain and hurt it was a bit too strong to become a title song, but personally it is my favourite 2PM song.

Wooyoung on “Gimme the Light”: It’s a song written to us by Busan-native Jo Jongsu-haengnim. I guess I could say it’s a song that has become our light. I suppose the lyrics approached us like that. I think at that time we were in need of the light.

Khun  on “Thank You”: I always feel very touched when I have to speak out the words at the beginning of the song: “This is for my Hottest”. There have always been so many things I wanted to tell our Hottest, and I’m really glad we were able to do it all through this song. Hottest, thank you for loving us!! Always ?

Junsu on “Move On”: It’s Junho’s self-composed song for the concert, a duet with Wooyoung. I think that the full feeling of this song can be reach while listening to it and watching both of them dance. I remember, that when the song still didn’t have a title the members would call it “Fire baby”, because it was the part of the lyrics that stood out the most^^

Chansung on “Hands Up”: I really liked it, because it was a strong resonating song that we could enjoy with everyone. Also it’s a song I’m especially attached to, because it was the first time I sang the main chorus part…!!

Junho on “Without U“: I think it’s a song that via its lyrics and choreography represented the hardships 2PM went through. It’s a song that showcases a very neat style and members’ sexual appeal.

Junho on “Alive”: It’s a song that Junsu hyung ambitiously prepared for his own solo stage. I think it’s a song that has showcased his boundless potential. It was new and fresh, considering that it was in a genre 2PM has never tried before.

Khun on “Give it to me”: It’s a song I like personally very much. I got a very good feeling when I first listened to it. And I also had a hunch that the fans would love it too. I thought that our Junho was great, I was so proud of him. Lee PD, fighting!=)

Wooyoung on “HOT”: It’s a great song written by our eldest Junsu hyung for 2PM. I was really shocked to see him composing overnight. Junsu hyung’s passion is really hot. As a younger [brother] I felt that I really had a lot to learn from him. Junsu hyung the best!!

Taecyeon on “I Hate You” : When I first heard “I hate you” I got this feeling of excitement starting from the fast beat part at the chorus. It was really hard to record, because the rap making was different from the established JYP rap style, but I think it’s the song that contributed the most to the current “Beastly” image!

[Entertainment] 7 KPOP Idols who would make great Disney princes

EXO’s recent trip to Disneyland in California got me thinking. I love Disney and I love k-pop. What happens when you put them together? Every fan by now has probably imagined their girl bias or boy bias to be the princess or prince of their lives. After all, k-pop is like a fairy tale. We as fans have so many dreams and wishes, especially fan girls who wish they had their biases be Prince Charmings and sweep them off their feet. Here are 7 k-pop idols who I think would make great Disney princes.

1. Nichkhun - Ever since 2PM debuted, Khun had always had something about him that made him seem princely. He was even often known as the Prince of Thailand. If I had to cast him as a Disney prince, I think I would make him Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty. I think Nichkhun would make a great Prince Phillip because he is such a gentleman and I think he would fight and beat evil creatures to save his princess! He’d also look pretty good dressed as Prince Phillip.

2. Siwon - I think Super Junior’s Siwon most resembles Li Shang from Mulan, looks-wise and personality wise. Holy shisus, they both have those thick eyebrows and manly, sculpted features. Their dashing good looks and strong body build look quite similar. I can even imagine Siwon singing “I’ll Make a Man Out of You,” can’t you?

3. Dongwoon - I personally think Dongwoon would make a great Aladdin, especially after Beast’s “Mystery” music video where he dressed up in Arabian-styled clothing and did funny moves. I think Dongwoon’s image as the Arab Prince is hard to forget. Wouldn’t you love to ride the magic carpet with him? He’d be a sweet boy and take you to “A Whole New World” and if he had a genie and needed to make a wish, I think he’d wish for you!

4. Lee Joon - This one is all about personality. I think his slightly conceited personality fits best with the handsome prince Flynn Rider from Tangled, in my opinion! Joon seems to have a fun, slightly arrogant personality that fits Flynn perfectly. Flynn is a sweet talker and deep down inside, he’s an amazing guy, just like Joon!

5. Minho - I think Shinee’s Minho most resembles Cinderella’s Prince Charming! Looks-wise, I think they look pretty similar. I don’t know about you guys, but I personally think Minho, like Nichkhun, has that prince-like vibe. He’s tall, handsome, and also is very much of a gentleman. If you put him in Prince Charming’s clothes, I think he’d look like the real thing. He’d also seem like the kind of guy who would take time to go through every girl in the kingdom to find his perfect match!

6. Kyuhyun - Honestly, this one came down to only looks. Kyuhyun in my opinion is not very prince-like. He’s an evil maknae that likes to play video games all day. He looks prince-like and if I had to pair him up to a prince, I’d say he looks just like Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. Prince Eric, did however, fall in love with Arial, who had a beautiful voice, and as a vocal in Super Junior, I think that fits pretty well!

7. Junhyung - He’s a pretty beastly guy, don’t you think? And for this reason, I think he’d make a great Beast from Beauty and the Beast. At first he seems cold, scary, or hard to approach, but on the inside, he’s a sweet guy who cares. And Kara’s Goo Hara would make a lovely Belle in this case.

Those are just who I think would fit as a couple select Disney princes. And remember, a dream is a wish your heart makes, so which idol do you wish to be your prince or princess?
