[News] 2PM Chansung - One of K-Pop’s Biggest Stars Reflect On The 63rd Anniversary Of The Start Of The Korean War

Many of K-pop's most popular artists wrote words of remembrance on Tuesday for those that fought and died for their country 63 years ago, on the day remembered as 6/25.

On June 25, 1950 North Korean forces invaded South Korea, prompting the start of what came to be known as the Korean War.

Many of K-pop’s most popular artists wrote words of remembrance on Tuesday for those that fought and died for their country 63 years ago, on the day remembered as 6/25.

Bora of chart-topping girl group SISTAR wrote expressed her gratitude on Twitter.

Today is 6/25,” Bora wrote on Thursday.

I’m spending the day with a thankful heart, paying my respects to all the war veterans and the fallen heroes, who sacrificed their lives for the country. Although we’re a generation that didn’t experience 6/25, I think we can spend our lives at ease because of all the soldiers. Thank you!

2PM’s Chansung offered some historical facts about the Korean War, that he said came from a “Korean history application,” according to CJ E&M enewsWorld

During the three years and one month of war, 600,000 people from South Korea and 700,000 from North Korea died,” Chansung tweeted.

It’s estimated that a total of 4 to 5 million people lost their lives due to disappearances, kidnappings, injuries, and civilian massacres. We must remember then and think about it today.

BEAST’s Yang Yo Seop got even deeper into that critical moment his country’s history.

On August 15, 1945, the happiness of independence was brief as the South and North split at the 38th parallel with the US in the South, and Russia in the North during the division occupation,” Yang wrote, regarding Korea’s north-south divide, enforced by the Allies following World War II, which came to determine the dividing line between the two countries.

“Then on June 25, 1950, the Korean War began with a sudden invasion from the North, which led to many dead and to psychological damage. The painful Korean War came to a pause on July 27, 1953 with an armistice, resulting in no winner or loser.”

The BEAST singer also thanked the soliders in the South Korean army for continuing to protect the country from an attack from the north.

I’m feeling kind of emotional,” he wrote. “I want to honestly thank the many peoplewho sacrificed their lives for our country and to the all the soldiersin the army, who are protecting our country now. Thank you so, so much!

100%’s Min Woo considers a greater dream on the day of remembrance.

Today is the 63rd anniversary of the 6/25 war,” Min wrote on Twitter.

Although our wish of unification has not come true yet, I hope today can be a day spent thanking those people who allowed us to live today.
