[News] 2PM Taecyeon And SNSD Jessica Dating: So Many Rumors, So Many Denials

He says they only met for coffee. She says they are just friends. Both their entertainment agencies say that the fact that 2PM’s Taecyeon and Girls Generation’s Jessica met up recently in Japan does not mean they are dating. And yet the rumors keep on circulating.

In fact, rumors about the singer/actor and singer/actress dating have been circulating since 2010. And that’s how long everyone involved has been denying them.

When Taecyeon recently appeared on the MBC talk show “Radio Star,” to promote 2PM’s comeback with the singles, “Come Back When You Hear This Song” and “A.D.T.O.Y.” he tried to explain the photographs taken of them in Japan.

The idol actor, who appeared in “Cinderella’s Sister” and “Dream High,” said that when he heard Jessica was in Japan, he suggested they meet after he finished up at the gym. It was just a casual meet-up between good friends.

”Taecyeon and I are just good friends, nothing more,” said Jessica, who appeared in the drama “Wild Romance.” “We have a lot in common, such as our American upbringing, but we are not dating. Truthfully, I don’t think I could ever date him, because I just can’t forget my first love.

Shortly thereafter both agencies made their official statements. But it’s not the first time, the agencies had to publicly deny the relationship.

In 2011, after the two were seen eating at a café and she drove him home to his dorm, there were also lots of rumors. Then Taecyeon’s agency, JYP Entertainment, released a statement saying that all members of 2PM and SNSD are close to one another. Jessica and Taecyeon specifically have a close friendship, but they are definitely not dating.”

Jessica’s agency, SM Entertainment, issued a statement saying that “rumors of them dating are groundless.

At that time Jessica attempted to explain why they could not date by offering information about her mysterious first love. She met her first love during her trainee days.

He seemed rather indifferent, like he didn’t think much of me one way or another, but I definitely liked him and made my feelings clear after a short time,” said Jessica.

She described her memories as precious and said she would get goose bumps every time her mystery love touched her. But when pressed for his identity, she could only come up with a first name, “Aircon.” This sparked a frenzied Internet search among fans with no results. Was the name made up? No one could find out her mystery lover’s identity. Two years later no one has.

Taecyeon was recently quoted as saying he would date his “We Got Married: Global Edition” pretend wife, Chinese actress Gui Gui in real life, but she was quoted as saying she did not think it would work out.The poor guy seems to have a hard time getting a date and, if the Jessica rumors are false, then he has been consigned once again to the friend zone.

What do you think? Are Taecyeon and Jessica really dating or justfriends? And if they’re friends, isn’t it about time they started dating?

[News] Shinhwa Says It′s Happy to Promote with Lee Hyori and 2PM

The K-Pop scene these days is thriving more than any other time these days. A singer over 60 has taken over the charts with his music, appealing to every group of listeners from teenagers to the older generation, while yet more top singers have been spilling out with new songs and comebacks.

Shinhwa, Korea's longest running idol group, has been taking up its own share in this bubbling May war. The group will be returning with its 11th album The Classic on May 16, but it says it's not aiming to win.

The members shared that they're just happy to be a part of what's going on.

Lee Min Woo said about Lee Hyori, "I thought it was awesome how Lee Hyori recently marked an all-kill on the charts with her preview track Miss Korea. I want to applaud her. It takes a lot of work for a female singer in her mid-30s to still look so attractive. I was surprised, and I was amazed at her music video. She's still there."

He added, "Shinhwa also became more confident after seeing Lee Hyori. We receive strength when we see singers that debuted with us be active. We're not aiming to compete; we want to support them, applaud them and continue to work with them."

Shin Hye Sung also said, "2PM is also going to be making a comeback. I happened to meet 2PM eating at a restaurant a while ago. They're younger, but I'm happy they'll be promoting with us."

He then said, "These days we're often asked whether we're confident to be going up against so-and-so, but we're just happy we'll be promoting with everyone. We'll be with Lee Hyori, who debuted with us, and 2PM, whom we like as juniors. Rather than compete, we just want to concentrate on showing our fans a wider variety of performances."

"K-Pop has been booming these days because so many great teams have been making comebacks," said Lee Min Woo. "I believe Cho Yong Pil sunbaenim (senior) played a big part in this. Being old doesn't always mean you'll be forgotten; I believe singers should sing music that becomes more valuable because it's old. Cho Yong Pil sunbaenim showed what that is, and Shinhwa will work hard to follow in his footsteps with this album."

This Love, Shinhwa's promotional single from its 11th album The Classic, was written by the composer of Venus from the group's previous album. It will be showcasing a 'voguing dance' in its performances.

[Review] Beast Idol Showdown: Shinhwa Vs. 2PM

This week has both Shinhwa and 2PM comebacks on music shows, allowing for a head-to-head showdown between the representative beast idols from different generations. The two have previously faced each other on MBC‘s God of Victory, a face-off that ended in victory for 2PM and 1,000 lunches for some lucky Hottests in celebration for 2PM’s comeback. But this week in music comebacks pits Shinhwa’s “This Love” against 2PM’s “A.D.T.O.Y.” to see which of the most masculine captures the stage.

What’s interesting about these comebacks is that choreography-wise, both have gone a more restrained route. Shinhwa incorporates voguing into their performance: an unexpected choice and also one that cleverly replaces more strenuous choreography to cut down on injuries. Though initially I had my doubts about how the style and more restrained movements would translate on stage, I shouldn’t have been worried. The entire performance comes off as sophisticated and sensual, with the six men owning all the moves.

Music-wise, Shinhwa has kept with their usual dance pop, and their title track bears some similarity to “Venus” in this respect. But “This Love” lets the vocals come out much more strongly and overall gives a strong impact. The song is catchy and very much within Shinhwa’s own style showing that the men still got it.

2PM, on the other hand, focuses on more hip movements, surely pleasing their fangirls. They also use some chair choreography, though their use isn’t anything innovative. While the choreography is sensual, for a comeback after almost two years it seems lacking. The group has impressed largely due to their boundless energy on stage with large movements and occasional incorporation of acrobatics. As such, to comeback with something like what “A.D.T.O.Y.” brings is disappointing.

However, 2PM is no slacker in the music area. “A.D.T.O.Y.” is fraught with tension and represents a return to a darker and emotional 2PM. The falsetto carried out by Junho and Nichkhun a bit past the halfway point was an excellent addition and is one of the best parts of the song.

On the note of choreography and stage presence for their comeback, I’d give Shinhwa the win. On the point of music, it remains a tie for me. For what we think here at Seoulbeats about the music videos and albums, check out our Grown and “A.D.T.O.Y” reviews, and stay tuned for a review of Shinhwa’s eleventh!

But in the meantime, what do you think about these two comebacks? Is there a group that shined more than the other for you?
